Sephora birthday

I just recently celebrated my birthday and picked up my FREE Sephora Birthday Gift.  This year you got to pick from Three different options!
If you are unfamiliar with the Sephora Birthday gift you are definitely missing out!  You sign up for their FREE insider program and every year during your birthday month you get a free gift.  It's always a nice deluxe sample.
Like I said they had three options to pick from this time: a MILK makeup set, Briogeo hair set and a Janerio lotion set.  I typically pick the makeup set but this time I went with the lotion set.  I have tried this lotion before and it smells AMAZING!

You get two deluxe sample sizes of the lotion in this cute little box.
They are small but they are perfect for travel or throwing in your purse.  The yellow one is the classic that I'm obsessed with and the teal one is a newer scent and y'all it smells like a cookie!

Totally FREE and definitely worth it!  Have you gotten your birthday gift yet?  Let me know which one you picked or would pick!

Friday Favorites

I'm on a roll with my favorites, this week is totally random.  Two TV shows, a snack, makeup and a toothbrush.  Hold on, it's getting exciting here ;)

Electric Toothbrush: I have been wanting to try an electric toothbrush for a while now and decided to give this one a go.  I have been pretty impressed with it.  It looks really nice and comes with replacement heads.  The setting lasts for 2 minutes and gives you an alert in 30 second intervals to switch to a different part of your mouth.  It definitely tickles and is something you have to get used to but I feel like my teeth are cleaner so that's a win for me.  Also it is less than $30 and would also make a really nice gift.

Brownie Batter Humus: Y'all this is my new favorite treat!  Chocolate dip that isn't terrible for you.  Yes it is still a dessert but it isn't loaded in sugar and actually has some nutritional properties.  The texture might be a little strange for some (slightly gritty) but the flavor is really good!  Subtle chocolate, not too sweet that is perfect for dipping pretzels in.  Kyle and I polished off the container in a weekend.  I may or may not have taken a spoon the the remainder of the tub...

The Crown: Season three is new on Netflix and I'm a little embarrassed that I am over halfway through the season.  I find the historical look at the royal family life so interesting.  You get the drama of their life, historical events and really good characters.  If you are interested in the royal family it is worth a watch.

Poldark: Ross Poldark made his final bow last Sunday as the show came to an end.  Definitely one of my favorite shows on Masterpiece.  Beautiful setting, emotional and romantic story-lines and characters that you fall in love with.  The first season is still my absolute favorite but the series as a whole will always have my heart.  If you haven't watched Poldark and you are a fan of Downton Abbey or other Masterpiece series, I cannot recommend it enough!

Anastasia Soft Glam: Rediscovered my favorite palette.  This beauty was a gift last Christmas and I'm still loving it!  Anytime I go for a made-up look this palette is my go-to.  This one would also make a great gift for any makeup lover! The quality is excellent!

That ends my random favorites, I would love to know what you all have been loving this week.  Let me know below!

Friday Favorites

Back with a Friday favorites!  These are the things I have been obsessed with lately and wanted to share them with you so you can share the obsession.

Twisted Cable Bracelet: I'm all about a good designer dupe, this twisted x cable bracelet is a new favorite for sure!  I love the look of the Yurman bracelets but that price is crazy high, these bracelets are $20 and I'm obsessed!  They feel great and fit my wrist really well.

Blame it on my roots top: If I can wear my boots I'm a happy girl.  I love my cowgirl boots.  As soon as I saw this top I knew I had to have it!  This color is so cute and the fit is great.  Super comfy and perfect for showing off my country side.

Metallic snake sneakers: Meet my new favorite sneakers!!  I have been really enjoying the trendy Golden Goose inspired sneakers going around.  These have the cutest metallic snake print and just a little bit of sparkle.  They are really comfy and I have been pretty much living in them!  Don't miss out on these guys!

Rose lip gloss: I just picked up this gloss a few days ago and I am already in LOVE!!  I heard that it was a dupe for the FENTY Gloss Bomb so I really wanted to try it out.  It was on sale at Walgreens so I decided to pick it up.  Y'all this stuff feels amazing!!  It gives your lips a healthy, pretty glow but its not sticky at all.

Better Call Saul: We recently finished Breaking Bad and needed another show so we started this one.  If you are a fan of Breaking Bad give this one a try.  It has the same style but more of a drama, not quite as harsh and intense as Breaking Bad.  I am really enjoying the exploration of characters from Breaking Bad that I liked, Saul being top.

There's my weekly favorites, let me know what you have been loving!

Sephora Birthday Gift 2019

Yay to free beauty products from Sephora!!  If you aren't a Sephora Beauty Insider member you need to join right now.  It's completely FREE and you get free stuff, so why not??
Every year Sephora gives insider members a free gift for your birthday.  You get to pick between 2 choices, usually a skincare set and a makeup set.  I have always chosen the makeup item but this year I went with the skincare option.

The skincare option this year was a Drunk Elephant set and I was really interested in trying it out.
The makeup option was a Kat Von D set with lipstick samples and an eyeliner, I just felt like being different and trying the skincare.
Funny story, my husband was with me when I picked them up and when I asked for the Drunk Elephant set he looked up and was like "Huh??"

You get a cleanser and a moisturizer and they are pretty good sizes, I have been using them for a week now and still have a good amount left.

I'm definitely a fan of these products, the moisturizer is great and feels so good on my skin.

Have you gotten your Sephora Birthday gift yet?  Which one did you pick?  Also what are your favorite Drunk Elephant products?

I don't normally post on a Sunday but this deal was too good not to share.  I have been eyeing the Stila Eyes are the Window Palettes for years but just never pulled the trigger.  I got an update that Stila was having 20% off their whole website and free shipping.  The palettes are already on MAJOR sale at $19, with 20% off they drop to less than $16!!  Such an amazing deal as these were originally $49!  I picked up the Spirit one and can't wait to use it!
There are so many other great Stila products to get on deal: the eyeliner is amazing, I have the matte lip in Perla and love it, so many options!

2018 Favorites

It's a New Year and I thought I would share my favorites from 2018.

Bobsweep: This might be my favorite thing in this list!!  He cleans my house for me!  I was definitely skeptical about the robo-vacuum but I am completely sold.  If you haven't checked them out yet see more here

Coconut Creamer:  I found my favorite coffee creamer this year.  I am a big fan of coconut and this one is amazing!!  It is creamy with just a slight coconut flavor.

Booties: If you follow me on instagram you have seen these boots all year.  They are super comfy and go with everything!  For less than $40 you really can't go wrong!

Concealer: The hype around this concealer is real, it covers up a multitude of dark circles and imperfections and blends out really well.  It is more expensive than a drugstore concealer but it is really worth it.

Ebates: I was slow to get on the Ebates train and I don't know why I waited so long!  Making money while you shop, what could be better??  Check out more here.

Bagels: These are my favorite store bought bagels!!  They are a seasonal item so you better believe that I stock up on these suckers.  They are the harvest grain bagels and are filled with cranberries and nuts and they are delicious!!  If you have an Aldi check them out!

Wireless Earphones: I have been using these all year and don't know what I did without them!  I love the ease of the wireless earphones and these are really comfortable.  They are a game changer at the gym.  If you have been on the fence about wireless earphones these are $15 and are AMAZING!

The Great Alone: My favorite book of the year was this one by Kristin Hannah.  She is one of my favorite authors and this did not disappoint.  It is set in Alaska and made me want to visit.  I loved the storyline, check out more here.

Coconut K-Cups: More coconut, these k-cups are great!  They have a subtle coconut flavor and are perfect for pairing with my coconut creamer.

Key Ring: These keyrings are all over instagram and for good reason.  They are super handy, you can slip the ring over your wrist and keep your keys out of the way while still available.  I picked up this pretty rose gold glitter silicone one and I am obsessed!

The Greatest Showman: You knew this one was going to make the list.  I absolutely loved this movie!!  I have listened to the soundtrack so many times, I own the movie and have watched it over and over.  If you haven't seen it GO WATCH IT!!

What are your favorites from the year??

Top 10 Neutral Eyeshadow Palettes (Drugstore and Sephora)

I am a pretty basic girl when it comes to makeup, I prefer a natural look that I can put on quick and not have to stress or worry about it too much.  Neutral eyeshadow is always my pick, here are my Top 10 Favorite Neutral Eyeshadow palettes:

Naked Palette: Super old and basic but worth it.  This is pretty much the ultimate neutral palette.

The Nudes Palette: Drugstore dupe for the naked palette, not quite up to the Urban decay quality but for less than $10 the pigmentation and payoff is goof.

Natural Eyes: This is my favorite palette out of the group.  I pretty much always travel with it and it is my go-to for a nice look.  They just redid the packaging on this one but the product is the same.

Wet N' Wild Fergie Palette: I picked this one up at Dollar Tree, such a steal!  It has really nice pigmentation, blends well and creates a pretty look.

Dawn till Dusk: This one has been my go-to for everyday lately.  It is a dupe for the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette.

Need it Nude Palette: I have been a fan of e.l.f. cosmetics for years and this palette is one of my favorites from them.  Pretty nudes and so easy to make an everyday look.

In Bloom: Pretty on the outside and the inside, this palette is great.  I also like to travel with this one for the giant mirror.  Oh and it smells nice.

Love in Paris: This palette is travel friendly because it is on the small side but it has lots of color options.  Good payoff and pigmentation this little palette is worth a try.

I-Color Trio: I have been using this palette since high school and have repurchased so many times.  I love the ease of the trio and that it is specifically chosen to compliment your eye color.

Lorac Pro 3: Another high end palette I feel is worth it.  Good pigmentation and easy to blend, the palette others lots of color options that are so pretty and perfect for everyday.

Sephora 2018 Birthday Gift Review and Swatches

All my makeup lovers out there if you aren't a Sephora Rewards Member get on it!!  You get free makeup even if you don't buy anything.  If you do buy things at Sephora you get points that can then be redeemed for products.  For the free products you get a birthday gift every year during your birthday month.

This year the birthday gift was really exciting!  It was from Bite Beauty and you get an Amuse Bouche Lipstick Mini in Chai, Matte Creme Lip Crayon Mini in Glace, and an Agave Lip Treatment Sample.  There is also a GlamGlow gift if you are more into skincare.

They are "minis" but the size is really good, you get a lot of product.

For the lip treatment you get a sample of the scrub and balm.  I have been using the balm and really enjoying it, haven't tried the scrub but I'm sure it will do the job.

The lip crayon in glace is such a pretty color but it is a little drying on my lips.  I would recommend a chapstick or something to counteract before you put this on.

The lipstick is my favorite, such a great neutral color and it goes on really well.  Not drying, great pigment and stays on well.

All in all I am super happy with the birthday gift this year.  They are the perfect size for your purse and really great amount of products you get for free.

Too Faced Natural Palette Dupe for $4!!

I am all about getting a good deal and am all for a good dupe.  No shame in my dupe game.
I love the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette, my husband got it for me for my birthday one year.  I have had it for about two years and it is still going strong.  It is the perfect everyday palette and I pretty much always travel with it.

I was shopping on Forever21 for Black Friday and saw this Night and Day Eyeshadow palette.  First of all the packaging was so pretty and it definitely looks a lot like the Too Faced palette.  P.S. this is $3.99!!

Side by side they don't look exactly the same but swatched they are pretty close.

Here they are swatched, Forever21 is on top and Too Faced is on bottom.  As you can tell the colors are really similar.  Of course the Too Faced shadows are creamier and more pigmented, but the Forever21 shadows aren't bad.  The Too Faced palette is almost $40 while the Forever21 palette is pretty much 90% off at $3.99.  This would make a really great gift for someone just getting into makeup.  It is a really nice palette for neutral looks.

Have you tried this palette?  Have you tried any other Forever21 makeup products?

Five Things Friday

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer: I was given this concealer by friends and it definitely lives up to the hype.  I goes on smooth and hides all the imperfections.  It is really easy to apply and lasts well.  If you haven't tried it, the hype is real.

Coffee-Mate Hazelnut Creamer: On my last Friday favorites I talked about my favorite coffee, this time I thought it was time to talk about my favorite creamer of the moment.  I have been a fan of hazelnut creamer since college and the love lives on.  I have tried lots of different creamers but always fall back on my old faithful hazelnut.  I love the slight hazelnut flavor that it adds, nothing overpowering.  If you haven't tried hazelnut creamer go try it!  Also let me know what your favorite creamer is.

Poldark Season 3: Poldark is back!!!  This is my favorite show on at the moment.  If you haven't ever watched it and you are a fan of Downton Abbey definitely check it out.  The story-line continues with the love triangle between Demelza, Ross and Elizabeth.  As if that wasn't enough drama the war is encroaching on their lives.  I'm loving diving back into the lives of Ross and Demelza, (definitely team Demelza all the way).  If you are a fan of Poldark let me know what you think of this season.

Cookie Notti Espresso Spread: This stuff was a random find from Big Lots.  I love the cookie butter from Trader Joe's so I thought this would be worth a try.  Honestly it is pretty similar to the Trader Joe's version.  This version I picked up has an espresso center.  I am a coffee fan so I enjoy the espresso flavor but I can definitely see how it could be too much for some people.  I have been enjoying putting it on toast, waffles and breakfast cookies.

Essie Vested Interest: Fall is finally here and that means darker nails!!  I think fall and winter are my favorite times to paint my nails.  I love the rich, dark colors and I just feel like my nails should be painted in the fall.  This color is a dark tealy green and I am a fan.  It is such a pretty color and I feel like this greeny color can be a fun neutral.

What have you been loving lately?

Five Things Friday

Adidas Superstars: These shoes have been super trendy for a while but I didn't want to get the same ones that everyone else had.  I saw a girl with holographic ones at Disney World and went to searching for different options.  I found these metallic snakeskin ones and fell in love!  I love how they look plain black in some lights and in other light the sparkle metallic shows.  I found them online but they were sold out for months then randomly found them in my local Foot Locker.  They are a kid's size but are just like the adult version, I got a 4.5 for reference.  Oh and they are back in stock online so run don't walk!

Ebates: I had heard about this website for awhile but never took the plunge.  A friend was talking it up and sharing all the rebates she was getting for shopping.  I figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out.  Y'all this is the easiest way to make a little money.  I installed it on my browser so if a website has an ebates rebate it will alert you to turn it on, and you have to search hard to find a website that isn't supported.  After that all you do is shop like normal and you earn a percentage back.  I have only been using it for a few months and already got my first check in the mail.  You're not going to get rich with ebates but getting a little money back on purchases you are already making is pretty sweet.

e.l.f. Everyday Smoky Eyeshadow Palette: I recently uncovered this palette from my makeup pile and decided to give it a go.  I got it at Target months ago and hadn't really used it.  I have too much makeup.  I have been using it everyday.  It is pretty pigmented and the colors blend really nice.  It says the smokey eye palette but I have been using it to do everyday neutral looks.  For less than $10 I definitely recommend it.

Bible Verse Bracelet: I discovered the shop Dear Lisa on etsy and fell in love with the designs.  They are so rustic and fun.  I contacted her about a custom design and absolutely fell in love with her idea.  Ecclesiastes 4:12 is a special verse to me and my husband.  For our wedding we braided a cord to symbolize "a cord of three strands is not easily broken".  I mentioned this to Lisa and she came up with the sweetest design.  It is a spoon bracelet with the bible verse engraved as well as our wedding date.  I absolutely love it.  Check out her Instagram for more of her designs.

a.n.a. Torrence Hobo Bag: Y'all I have been searching for a new bag for while now and just happened to stumble on this one on clearance at JCPenny.  I loved the design and for less than $20 I figured I would give it a try.  I have been using this bag nonstop for a month and it has held up really well.  It holds a lot of stuff, which I love.  I also really like that it is crossbody and it can also be worn on my shoulder like a hobo bag.  It has lots of pockets, even one on the front which is perfect for stashing my phone.  It also looks pretty similar to the Marc Jacobs hobo bags, but for so so much cheaper.

What have you been loving this week?

Five Things Friday

Five Things Friday

Tarteist Lip Paint in Birthday Suit: I got this lip color in my Sephora Birthday Gift for this year and have been loving it!  It is the prettiest pinky nude.  It's not so nude that you get that dead lip look, it still adds some color.  It is a matte and can be slightly drying so keep that in mind when you apply, but it lasts for hours and doesn't feel gross.  It's been a win for me.

Valley Cruise Press Pins/Patches: I have really been enjoying the 90's trend comeback of patches and pins.  I had a thing for patches and pins when I was younger and had a jacket covered in them (I thought it was the coolest).  I have been slowly delving back into the trend and found these adorable items at Valley Cruise Press.  I am obsessing over the peanut butter and jelly pin set, seriously how cute!?  I am also in love with the GIANT terrarium patch, I just don't know what to do with it yet...any ideas?

Blush Bag: I picked this bag up last year on clearance and finally broke it out for spring.  Mine is actually a blush color and I'm obsessed.  It is the perfect size for my essentials, yet small enough to be worn crossbody when needed.  Believe it or not I picked mine up at Kmart...yep thy still exist.  I am signed up for their Shop Your Way point system and received $10.00 in random bonus points.  Well I used them on this bag and ended up paying about $4.00!  So if you're not signed up go check it out.

Evermore (Dan Stevens version): Kyle and I decided see Beauty and the Beast this past weekend.  At first we were put off by the political agenda Disney seemed to have and the information being presented in a movie directed toward children but decided to see it for ourselves.  I am not going to have a big speech about it, there were things I didn't agree with morally and felt should be left out but the overall message and feel of the movie were traditional and beautiful.  The story of love, forgiveness and changing is still there.  Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorite original Disney movies (tied with The Little Mermaid) so I had high hopes.  It was good but not great.  I honestly didn't love Emma Watson as Belle.  I like her and all I just didn't feel like she was Belle for me.  Now Dan Stevens as the Beast was AMAZING!  I mean can he be my favorite too??  The moment that made the movie for me was his "Evermore" solo.  I would watch the movie just for that part.  It is such a powerful moment and the insight into the Beast's character and his love for Belle is beautiful.  I told Kyle if that scene hadn't been in the movie I probably wouldn't have liked it.  It is such a sad and beautiful moment.  I have had the song on repeat feeling all the feels.  Have you seen the movie?  What were your thoughts?

Chick-Fil-A Market Salad: I have had this salad twice and am in love!  Any salad with blue cheese and fruit is a win in my book.  This one is delicious and with a vinaigrette dressing it is less than 400 calories!  Mixed greens topped with red cabbage, carrots, blue cheese, apples, strawberries, blueberries and grilled chicken.  It is so delicious and filling!  I love a good Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich and waffle fries but when I want something healthier but still delicious this is a good sub.

Sephora Birthday Gift 2017 (and swatches)

My birthday was this month so I had to stop by Sephora and pick up my birthday gift for the year!  For those of you unfamiliar with the Sephora birthday gift it is a FREE set of items given out once a year on your birthday.  All you have to do is sign up to be a Beauty Insider!
This year is a really good gift so if you haven't signed up go ahead and do it!

You get a choice between the Tarte or Caudalie gift sets.  I picked the Tarte because makeup :)

I was really excited about both products!  The blush is a really pretty pinky color that is perfect for spring.  The lip color was a pleasant surprise.  It looked really light in the tube but it is a really pretty blushed nude color.  I have already used them both and love them!  Also how cute are those names?  Perfect for birthday gifts!!

Five Things Friday

Five Things Friday

Double Hooded Sweatshirt: I have been a fan of the Simple Addiction leggings for a while now (seriously softest leggings around).  I was really excited to try out their new double hooded sweatshirt.  First of all the color is perfect, blush is one of my favorite colors this year and for spring it's perfect!  I love the unexpected double hood detail and the material is really nice, thick but still light.  It is perfect for throwing on for a casual Saturday.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Crazy for Coffee: I am slowly overcoming my darker lipstick fear.  This color has been one I have been reaching for when I want a color.  I love the shade, it's a brown but not overly so, there's enough purple red in it to make a pretty color.  It is perfect for winter and warming up your look.

United Tees Travel, Explore, Embrace Tee:  I am all about casual comfy clothes.  If you catch me at home I am almost always sporting leggings and an oversize t-shirt.  This tee is one of my new favorites.  It is soft and comfy, I love the green color and the back detail is my favorite.  It has a map of the United States in pretty muted colors and it says Travel, Explore, Embrace.  It has become one of my favorite T-shirts to throw on.  Check out United Tees for more shirts, use code richardson_15 for 15% off!

Walmart Bralettes: I have two of these and am obsessed with them.  They are my favorite bralettes and they were from Walmart of all places and less than $10!  You really can't beat that.  They have a wide lace band, super soft material and plenty of stretch.  Oh and they are padded, which is pretty much awesome.  They are on sale online right now so go pick some up!

Aldi Fit and Active 100 Calorie Snack Pack Chocolate Cookies: With the new year and all the healthy beginnings I picked up these snack cookies at Aldi, oh my goodness they are my new favorite.  They taste like the cookie part of an oreo.  They have a great rich chocolate taste that feels like way more than 100 calories.

Essie Nail Polish Clearance Finds for $2

Two of my favorite things: nail polish and clearance!  I stopped in Rite Aid randomly to pick up some Kleenex and decided to glance at their clearance section.  They had an extra 75% off on clearance going on and they had essie!

They had two bottles of essie polish for an original price of $9, but with a 75% off they were around $2 apiece!  You can't beat that price!

I picked up the colors Mink Muffs and Sew Psyched.  Mink Muffs is a really pretty brown with a slight purple tinge.  Sew Psyched is an army green with a slight gray tinge and a hint of shimmer.  They are both super pretty fall colors and I'm loving them!  I always love a good deal on good quality nail polish.  Definitely will be checking out the Rite Aid clearance section more often.

Five Things Friday

Five Things Friday

Maybelline Warm Me Up: This lipstick has been my go to for weeks.  It was a recommendation from some friends and I am so glad I found it.  It is this really pretty nude mauve pink and I am obsessed with it!  With fall coming up the color is perfect for warming up your look :)

Felicity: So this show is an oldie.  I started watching this in college but never finished it.  It recently showed up on the ABC app and I had to start watching again.  Ahhh I forgot how much I loved this show!  It is so 90's, full of drama and I get so sucked into the story.  If you have never watched it, Felicity is a freshman in college.  She makes a life changing decision to follow her high school crush to New York for college.  There she makes friends, finds herself and gets into a crazy love triangle.  If you have never watched it, check it out.

Essie Armed and Ready: I have had this color for a few years and went through stages of like and dislike.  It is one of those weird colors that are really a little ugly (seriously this one looks like baby poop).  I like it with all it's ugliness.  It is a dark army green with just a slight shimmer.

Naturebox Praline Pumpkin Seeds: The pumpkin obsession continues with these delicious praline ones from Naturebox.  I had tried the Naturebox subscription service before and really enjoyed the snacks, they were just a little pricy to keep up.  Target started carrying them individually and every so often they go on a good sale.  I got these guys 40% off with the cartwheel app and used a $2 coupon bringing them to 25 cents each.  This is a crazy good deal for high quality healthier snacks.  These pumpkin seeds are so so good!  Not too sweet but still the perfect snack to satisfy that sweet craving.
Walmart Necklace: Walmart has really been stepping up there game lately and I am loving it.  I have found cute shirts, a bag and now this necklace.  I love anything turquoise, must come from my cowgirl background, this necklace was $5!  I love the beading, the tassel and the beautiful turquoise stone.  It feels like really good quality too.  I have been wearing it with dresses and tees but I can't wait to throw it on over some sweaters and pair it with my favorite boots.

Tarte Haul with Swatches (In Bloom palette, Lipstick, and more)

I had a gift card for Tarte and decided to splurge and pick up a few items.  I found one palette on clearance and then picked up the In Bloom palette and a lipstick.  I thought I would share my review and some swatches in case you're interested in them for yourself:

I have the first Tartelette palette and loved it.  All the shades are matte and I love them!  This palette is a mix of matte and shimmer shades and they are all really pigmented and beautiful.  I think I prefer the first palette since the shades are a little more neutral but this one is really pretty too!

This is my first Tarte lipstick ever and I'm definitely a fan.  This is the Tarte Drench Lip Splash in Cabana Boy.  It feels really nice on my lips, very hydrating, the color is beautiful and it lasts really well.

This was the palette I found on clearance.  It was around $30 and while the colors aren't quite as pigmented as the Tartelette palettes they are still nice colors that are easy to blend.  The colors are really pretty and neutral and I've been getting a lot of pretty looks from them.
