Summer Happenings

Alright so obviously this post is super late, I've been crazy slacking on blog posts and I had this one semi finished so thought I would go ahead and share our going-ons from the past couple of months.

As we just moved and are getting settled in I decided to paint some pieces of furniture that have been on my to-do list for years!  I love how they turned out and am planning a blog post on them soon!

Our move has brought us so much closer to our families which has been wonderful!  We are so lucky to have access to a lake house on Lake Lure.  We have been there maybe 3 times in five years.  Since we moved I've been there twice and we are already planning a hopeful third trip. 

So nice to relax and get away from everything!

We were able to walk around the Flowering Bridge.  Every time I go back they have added something new!  This mirror wall was so cute!

Necessities: magazine (I love Our State), cold drink and beach bag, also LOTS of sunscreen!

Pretty much unpacked all the boxes and getting semi-settled.  South Carolina is finally feeling like home.

Exploring our new town, we walked around the cutest little park area and will definitely be back!  We've really been enjoying taking walks and exploring parks around town.

Also so excited that we have a Brusters nearby!  So So So good!  This flavor was Blueberry Cobbler and it was delicious!  I still want to try the wedding cake flavor!

We celebrated 6 years this year and are so incredibly blessed!

Work has definitely kept us both busy, enjoying time together and this new adventure.

Weekend Adventures: Birmingham Vulcan Statue

I love exploring and checking out new places.  We recently played tourist and visited the Vulcan Statue and Museum, something I have wanted to do for a while.

It was my birthday weekend and we just decided to finally make it happen.

We toured the museum and learned all about the history of Birmingham.  With rich coal, limestone and ore deposits this lead Alabama to be the nation's fourth-highest producer of iron and steel in the 1880's.  This lead to a rapid expand of the city of Birmingham.

We then climbed up to the top of the Vulcan Statue (and by climbed I mean we rode the elevator).  

 This statue is a whopping 56-foot, 60-tons and is the largest iron figure ever cast.  At the time is was made it was the biggest statue created in the US, and second-tallest in the country (right behind the Statue of Liberty).  It was made for the 1904 World's Fair and cast with iron made from ore mined at Red Mountain (where the park is now).

 Alright y'all here's a secret, I was scared to death once we got up there.  We stepped out of the elevator and I immediately wanted to go back down.  Don't get me wrong, the view was great but the fact that I could see the ground through the grates in the floor felt a little too unsteady for me.

Once we got back on land we walked around the park area (which was lovely).

If you are in the area it is definitely worth a visit.  It is free to walk around the park but you do have to pay to go to the museum and go up on the statue.  Tickets are $6 per adult and $4 for children but if you are a AAA member you get 20% off.

Instagram Roundup

It has almost been a month since I have shared an instagram roundup, a lot has happened in between for sure.  Trying to reign life back in to normalcy as much as possible.

My mom, my sister and I had the chance to take a trip to New York City a couple of weeks ago (right before everything went crazy).  We had a great time sightseeing, eating and taking in the city life.  Blog posts coming soon!

This jacket was one of my favorite things that I brought on the trip!  Bonus it is only $20!

So much walking and way too many pictures!  I'm also planning a post with my outfits that I wore while in the city, stay tuned!

My sister had her very first macaroon experience at The Plaza.  We had the Marie Antoinette and the Rose Petal.  Texture was amazing but honestly we picked the wrong flavors ;)

Seeing the empty Times Square on the news right now is so crazy to think that we were just there a few weeks ago.

Last time I visited Central Park it was rainy and gross, this time we lucked out with a beautiful sunny day.  So nice to walk through the park and see all the familiar sights.

We ventured out of the city to Long Island and visited a Gatsby inspired house with beautiful gardens.  I'm telling you this coat was a major favorite!

I'll leave you with this one, in these uncertain times I have confidence in my God.  He knows what is going to happen and He has a plan for everything.  This pandemic wasn't a surprise to Him.  Trusting in Him and in His plan for all this.  

2019 year in Review

Here we are 2020, still seems crazy to write that!  This past year was filled with concerts, travel and lots of new adventures!

2019 started off with a Jesse McCartney concert that was so much fun!  Check out my post here.

Celebrated my birthday with my first Kendra Scott necklace!

Vegas was such a great experience!  So cool to see all the sights both city and nature.

The Hoover Dam was beautiful!

I made a change and chopped off a chunk of my hair last spring.

Spring brought a trip to Disney and what a trip it was!  ALL the pictures were taken, so much food and Disney magic abounded!

Another concert, Kyle and I went to see Eli Young Band for his birthday.  We were pretty much front row and had such a great time getting to see our favorite band together.

I made my first trip to Texas this year.  We went to the Dallas market and had a great time experiencing some of what Texas had to offer.

We made a trip to NC and had such a great time visiting family.

My brother was deployed this year so we were super thankful to get to spend some time with him.  Continually praying for his safety and the safety of all the troops in service. 

I was super lucky this year to win a few concert tickets this year, first off was Brad Paisley.  Kyle and I really enjoyed this one together, he was so funny!

Stepped into character as Lucy for Halloween. 

Kyle and I visited a special church service with a friend and had a great time of worship and fellowship.

Thanksgiving was spent surrounded by family and friends.  My family and Kyle's family all spent Thanksgiving together for the first time and we all had a great time enjoying time together.  

With my brother deployed holidays were a little different, we made the best of it by spending time all together thanks to the wonders of technology ;)  See more on this trip here.

I feel like Christmas flew by in a hurry this year.  We spent it with friends, family and celebrating the birth of Jesus.

This year was truly a joy and we are so excited to see where 2020 takes us.
