Thrift Haul So many books!!

Yes I went thrifting again...when things are this cheap I really can't stop!  I stopped by my local thrift store and picked up a HUGE pile of books and also a bag, all for less than $4!!

This thrist store is my absolute favorite since they have books for 10 cents!  10 cents y'all!!  I ended up picking up 11 books and am so excited for them!

I have had really good luck with bags at this thrift store lately.  I have eyed this Relic tote bag in stores before but never purchased, so when I saw it for $2 at the thrift store I had to pick it up.  I have been using it nonstop and I love all the pockets.  Honestly I am contemplating picking up another color, I love it that much.

What have you found thrifting?

These camo sneakers add a fun touch to an outfit (and they are pretty affordable too).  A few other favorite things that crossbody and cardigan are my go-tos.  I'm just a little sad that I had to put away this cardigan for the summer...anyone else feel me?

Shop the Look:

Been taking advantage of nice weather when we can, we have been getting quite a few thunderstorms and they aren't done yet.  P.S. if you haven't tried the Free People Dani Swing tanks out yet, go try one on.  They are super comfy and the perfect basic top, also for Free People they aren't outrageous.

Last picture was one I took on my way out of the gym.  They have really pretty trees set up outside and the light was hitting them just right that afternoon.

10 Things I Would Tell my High School Self

This year will be my 10 year anniversary from graduating from high school.  Ten years, I really don't know how this is possible.  I thought I would commemorate by giving 10 pieces of advice I would tell my high school self.  High school was an awkward time for me, I'm a pretty shy person and I had just been in a different school for 7th and 8th grade than all the other people in my high school.  I started off super nervous and it took a while to make friends.  Junior year things turned around and I had a good group of friends and enjoyed my time.

1. Smile and say Hi to people, don't be so shy!  Push out of your comfort zone!

2. Trust God more, He knows what's going on and He has a plan.  You will never regret spending more time with Him.

3. Be yourself, you're pretty great and you don't have to change to fit in.  Be confident in yourself!

4. It's totally OK if you don't date until your senior year.

5. Everyone has a hard time in high school, feels left out and unsure of themselves, trust me you are not alone.

6. No you don't marry your high school boyfriends, but be nicer to them.

7. Listen to your parents, they have been through life and understand things you are going through.  Give them some respect.

8. Be a positive influence any way you can, be more active in church and help others.

9. Spend time with your family and enjoy it, before long you will be moving away to college and will miss them (I promise).

10. High school is only 4 years, it's not the defining years of your life.  Good or bad, high school is just high school.

What would you tell yourself?

Jack Rogers for less than $20!?!

Yep that's right guys, right now DSW has Jack Rogers Adair sandals for less than $20!!  Seriously run don't walk!

I have been a fan of Jack Rogers for years, great quality and such a classic look.  They are usually pretty pricey so I only have one pair.  I can't believe I have been missing out on DSW deals until this year, they have some really great sales!  I saw these and ended up ordering the natural cork ones, Jack Rogers for less than $25...y'all that doesn't happen often.  These would also make a really great gift idea, never too early to think about Christmas.
Want to make this deal even better?  If you join DSW rewards you get $10 off, making the black and white pair less than $10!!

Instagram Roundup

Between recovering from getting sick and then preparing to have guests for the weekend I definitely slacked on posting this week....life happens.  Here's my instagram roundup for the week:

We stumbled upon this cute mural while in Birmingham last week and I thought it was too fun not to share.  "Don't just count your blessings, share them."

I had the chance to check out the sweetest company supporting 4-H and agriculture, two things I am all for.  If you missed it check it out here.  That's where this cute necklace came from by the way.

My favorite pic of the week featuring my thrifted Rebecca Minkoff (check out the post here) and my new favorite white turquoise slab necklace that I posted about here.

I have been enjoying adding a little western flair to my outfits lately.  This tank was perfect, also these booties are pretty much my go-to.  If you haven't picked them up from Target go!

Thrift Haul: Rebecca Minkoff???

I have been trying to hit up the thrift store a couple times a month and have found some really great finds...y'all this was one of the best!!

Yes that is a Rebecca Minkoff there...and yes I thrifted it.  I also picked up a couple of books (including two gorgeous Fairy Tale ones) and a pair of shoes.

On to the best piece, I found a Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. bag!  Y'all it is in awesome condition!!  It was a little bit more than I tend to spend at the trift store...a whopping $10 but for Rebecca Minkoff I decided I would splurge ;)  It is definitely one of my favorite thrift store finds!

I also picked up these Isola flats for $1, these retail for over $100!!

Let me know what you have found while thrifting!

4-H, Livestock and more at Whippoorwill Valley

If you have been around for awhile you know I am a cowgirl at heart.  I grew up on a beef cattle farm, raising and showing Simmental.  I was in 4-H for 10+ years and owe a lot of who I am to being involved in these programs.

I discovered Whippoorwill Valley on etsy and fell in love.  It is run by two sisters who have a heart for the country way of life.  They grew up on a farm in Missouri on Whippoorwill Road.

My favorite piece is this show cattle keychain.  It is such great quality and is the cutest way to add a little charm to your keys.

This show heifer charm necklace is so cute and would be perfect to wear to a show or livestock event.

They were so sweet and sent this necklace to me as well.  I love the arrowhead and the message of following your own arrow.

If you or someone you know is involved in 4-H, FFA or agriculture in general check out Whippoorwill Valley and see what you can find.

Instagram Roundup

I lucked out this weekend and ended up catching my husband's cold...I slept for pretty much the whole weekend.  Due to that this weeks posts will be scheduled differently.  Starting off with my instagram roundup.

Flowers and sunbeams make this one a winner.

We had a photoshoot day at work last week and made a trip to Birmingham.  We ended the day on a parking deck and caught the sunset, so pretty!

I had the chance to collaborate with The Jewelry Junkie and styled three pieces of jewelry.  I love the western/boho vibes they give.  Check out my blog post here to see how I styled the pieces.

Is it really my instagram if I don't post a picture of coffee??

This was one of my favorite looks lately.  Flowy tank, pretty bralette and a cardigan are a win in my book.

What I have been Reading

It has been a little while since I have done a post on what I have been reading, to be honest I actually haven't had a lot of time to read.  These three are a culmination of a few months of reading.

The Villa by Nora Roberts: This one started out really strong and interesting, a murder, family drama and romance all set against a beautiful California vineyard.  It got a little stale towards the middle and I had already figured out the end.  Characters were pretty good just needed a little more in the story to hold my interest.

The Broken Road by Richard Paul Evans: I got this one for Christmas and was really excited to start on the next Richard Paul Evans series.  He is one of my favorites!  Exploring the question, "What if you could start over?" this book follows celebrity Charles James in his haunted and unhappy life.  With fame and fortune discovered he is still unsatisfied with his life.  He has a reoccurring nightmare of walking down a pat engulfed by flames, he wonders if he has made all the wrong choices in his life.  By a crazy twist of fate he is granted a clean slate, a second chance at life.  The basis of the story is really good, this first book was really just an introduction to the character of Charles James, how he got to where he is and how he gets the second chance.  I enjoyed it and am interested to see what happens next in the series.

The Last Original Wife by Dorothea Benton Frank: My least favorite was this one, not bad just an easy fluff read.  The story follows Leslie, a middle aged woman married and unhappy with her life.  Her husband is golf obsessed, her children don't appreciate her, and all the other husbands have divorced and remarried younger women.  She is surrounded by "Barbies".  The story follows her on her journey to find herself.  Spoiler Ahead- I was disappointed in the characters in general, shallow and boring.  Leslie ends up connecting with her high school sweetheart and sparks fly (while she is still married might I add, without any remorse).  It seemed like they all gave up and were all just spoiled and unhappy.  I found it hard to have sympathy for them and their situations.  The ending was unrealistic and honestly unsatisfying.  Not the Dorothea Benton Frank I have read before.

What have you been reading lately?

Jewelry Junkie Styling

A touch of turquoise and you have my attention.  I love the western feel turquoise and stones add to an outfit.  Raised on a beef cattle farm, I love pieces that give that cowgirl vibe.  I recently discovered The Jewerly Junkie, a Texas based company creating beautiful jewelry pieces that have a western boho vibe.  I'm all about them!

I picked up three pieces from them and had so much fun styling and adding a little boho touch to my outfits.
This white turquoise slab necklace is so easy to add to an outfit.  It is gorgeous and also surprisingly comfortable to wear.  The back is a leather cord so it sits nicely on your neck.  I wanted the necklace to pop so I styled this one pretty simply over a black tank.
How pretty is that stone???  This regalite slab cuff is gorgeous!  Bracelets can be hard for me since I have smaller wrists but this one adjusts and actually fits!  Again I wanted the bracelet to stand out so I paired it with a simple shirt, jeans and my favorite booties.
My last piece was this turquoise multi-cross necklace.  Give me all the turquoise!!!  This piece is a stand out and I love the versatility.  You can double it up or wear it long and layer with other pieces.  I can't wait to try out other styles.
I wanted to play up the western vibe so I paired this one with an embroidered tank and cardigan.
I am obsessed with these pieces and love the western touch they give an outfit.  Let me know your favorite styling below!
