Word of the Year 2020

Happy New Year!  This is my third year of picking a word for the year.  I feel like instead of making resolutions, picking a word that embodies a goal for the year, helping me to live more intentionally.  Last year my word was "SEEK".  With that as my goal I worked to make seeking God's will for my life and focusing on His plan over mine a theme for my life.

This year I used the DaySpring Word of the Year to find my word.  It was really cool you take a quiz choosing things that you want to focus on or that sound like you and it will tell you the word for your year.
My word of the year is:

Merriam-Webster defines Abide as:
1 : to remain stable or fixed in a state a love that abided with him all his days. 2 : to continue in a place : sojourn will abide in the house of the Lord. abide by. 1 : to conform to abide by the rules. 2 : to accept without objection : to acquiesce in will abide by your decision.

Applying this to my life I am focusing on honoring God with my life and everything I do, accepting His will and His plan for my life and trusting in Him.  Fully relying and trusting is not something that comes easy but I know that His plan is greater than anything I have planned.

My prayer this year is to live intentionally, focusing on His plan for my life and to abide in His love and His word.

Did you pick a word of the year?  Let me know your words down below, praying for this new year and fresh start.

My Word for the Year 2019

Last year was my first year really intentionally choosing a word for the year.  To me choosing a word for the year means you keep that word in mind and actively strive to meet it.  It becomes a sort of mantra for your year, a goal.  My word for 2018 was JOY.  I tried to find JOY in all things.

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 15:11 ESV

This year my word of the year is:

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33 NIV

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13 NIV

The bible says if we SEEK the Will of God first, then all things will be given to us.  We must place God first in our life.  When this happens we see Him working through circumstances and events for our good.  His plan is far greater than our plan.  This year I want to intentionally live my life seeking God's will.  I want to seek His plan and His purpose for my life and to listen to His words.  One way I am trying to start this is by reading the whole bible this year.  I plan to do a post on this soon!

Let me know your word of the year!

Hobby Lobby Clearance Haul

Y'all know I am all about a good deal.  Hobby Lobby is my favorite place to find home decor and right now they are having their clear out sale.  I picked these up when they were 75% off but the last time I went in they had things marked to 85%, so run don't walk!

Here's what I found:

I love the hymn "Come Thou Fount", we actually had it played at our wedding when guests were walking in.  This art is really fun with the aluminum backing and rustic feel.  I got it for $4.50!

My next find was $10, and guys this thing is big!  I think it would look really great in a dining room or living room.  It is so rustic and I love the wood, the verse is a great reminder as well.

This was such a random find but I love it!  This deer towel holder was $8.75 and I think it is so fun!

Another deer accent, y'all deer and cows get me all the time.  This gorgeous art piece was $7.50 and I might end up putting it in my husband's office.

That's all for now, I have been eyeing a couple of cowhide stools but I need them to drop in price just a little more, I'm just hoping someone doesn't snatch them first!

Let me know if you find any really great Hobby Lobby clearance deals!

Bible Journaling Must-Haves

Bible Journaling Must-Haves

Journaling Bible: Obviously you will need a journaling bible.  My husband got this one for me for my birthday and I love it!  It is so pretty outside and has a great amount of space to doodle.

Watercolors: I haven't actually used watercolors in my journal yet but I have seen some beautiful creations on pinterest that have used them.

Journaling Pens: My husband also gave me these pens and I love them!  They are acid free so they won't mess up your pages, fine tipped, easy to use and don't bleed through your pages.  They come in a lot of different colors so I have lots of options.

Notebook: I like to have a notebook with my bible journal to write down ideas and verses that I want to work on later.

Pencils: With my doodles I always start in pencil.  Mechanical pencils are my favorite for thin lines.  I like being able to sketch it out first and be able to erase at the end.

Eraser: After I have finished with a journaling section I like to take an eraser over the doodles to erase any stray pencil markings just to clean it up a little bit.

Pens: These are great for adding thin lines, dates, details or titles.

Highlighters: If you want to add bright details or highlight the verse that you are journaling these are great!

Colored Pencils: Along with my pens these are something that I use all the time.  These are great for coloring in doodles and adding pretty depth and texture.

My experience Bible Journaling

I have just started bible journaling and am really enjoying it!  I love spending time in God's word doodling and drawing to reflect that verse.  I throw on some worship music and spend time in the word.

Here are some of my doodles:

did it myself

So I have had some time and here are some DIY projects that I have been working on:

Proverbs 31 and John 3:16
I think I might use the Proverbs one for my Thirty-One display table

Cow print bulletin board that I might use as my prayer board

Redo on the mirror, I used the crackle style of painting but it's hard to see in the photo...

Got these letters online and printed them out, so cute!

Redo on the bulletin board

Redneck Wine Glasses
Busy Busy Busy, but I love to spend time making crafts.

Erin

Painting up a storm

So I have been painting some canvases that I purchased over the summer.  I saw some ideas on Pinterest and decided to make them mine for my [future] apartment.

Here are my masterpieces:
Jeremiah 29:11

Psalm 139:14

Book pages and my monogram
The first two I painted the canvas an aged brown and then painted the bible verse on there.  They are two of my favorites.

Then the last one is on a smaller canvas, I modpodged old book pages on the canvas and then painted my monogram.  You know how I love my monogram...

I absolutely love how they all came out and am so exicted to hang them up!!

Blessings,

Erin
