Free Country Concert: Lauren Alaina, Dustin Lynch and Cole Swindell

If you have been following for a while you know that I am pretty lucky in the radio ticket winning department.  Last month I happened to be in the car waiting for Kyle when I heard it was time to call and I ended up winning tickets to the Reason to Drink (Another) Tour featuring: Lauren Alaina, Dustin Lynch and Cole Swindell.

It was still pretty hot and muggy even after dark, as you can probably tell by my hair...this was the only picture we got.

Lauren Alaina was really cute and she is crazy talented!

I was probably most excited for Dustin Lynch and he did not disappoint.  He just seemed like a genuine good guy.  His mom was in the audience and it was really cute.  He even busted out some Drake at one point.

Cole Swindell was really great, he definitely pulled on the heartstrings and sang a song about his dad who passed away.  He connects with his audience and pours his heart out.

Towards the end all three of them came out and sang 90's country and "Meet Me in the Middle".  That section was probably my favorite part.  You can't go wrong with some Garth Brooks and Shania Twain.

Lauren came out in a Roll Tide shirt for her second outfit, I told you she was cute!

Low quality picture but they really seemed like they were so happy to be performing together, they were so cute.  All three seemed so genuine, humble and grateful for where they are and the opportunity they have.  It was a really good concert, they were really talented and we had fun spending our Thursday night with them.

Dirt Cheap/Thrift Store Haul

Yep we have another haul...I need a thrifting intervention.

I picked up two of the same shirt just in different colors from Dirt Cheap, I think they were around $2 each.  They have this gorgeous velvet detailing and I am in love with them!

Guys this skirt!!  It is pleated and velvet and gorgeous!!  It was also around $2 and I am in love!!

I'm still into the star trend and this top was such a chic way to incorporate it.  I love the ruffle detailing and I can't wait to style this for fall.  It was also around $2.

Now onto the thrift sore finds:

Blazers are a big trend this year and this one was such a great color and for less than $4 I couldn't pass it up.

These shoes!!  I am obsessed with the leopard and the little tassels!!  I think they were around $3 and y'all I love them!

That's my haul, have you been thrifting lately?  Let me know what you have found below, I love celebrating a good deal!

Instagram Roundup

October is here and we are still sweating...oh Alabama.  The end of this next week looks like it might bring some cooler temperatures and I am so ready for it.  We actually had a lot of things going on this week.  We had dinner with friends from church and had a country concert to go to.  Here's a look at my week through instagram:

With a busy week all the coffee was necessary...p.s. if you haven't tried Chick-Fil-A's iced coffee go!

This top got restocked on Madison and Mallory and it's a good one.  Super soft and flowy, it's a win in my book.  Check it out here.

Leopard and loafers, that's definitely a combo I can get behind.  Can you believe these loafer mules were $5 on clearance at Walmart???

I'm all about cozy textures for fall.  This faux layered dress from Peach is such a fun addition to my fall wardrobe.  Also how cute are those star mules??

Anne of Green Gables is my favorite, what better way to show off than with her quote?  This top is my favorite and is on sale for less than $15 right now!!  Check it out here.

If you aren't signed up for Krispy Kreme rewards you are doing it wrong.  They give you free doughnuts!!  What else do you need??  Celebrated fall with a pumpkin spice doughnut and I have no regrets.

October is my favorite but it's hard y'all.  My parents have been active with agriculture and I have been around it my whole life.  I started showing beef cattle at the county fairs and that was my life.  It is such a strong part of who I am that being away from it gets hard.  I get sad when I think about the fair going on at home and I'm not there.  I miss the family time, the feel of walking in the ring, late nights, early mornings, sore muscles and dirty clothes.  I miss that part of my life and October brings it all to the surface.  Our county fair will always have a special place in my heart.
I get the fair blues and The Lord knew I needed a little distraction this week so He provided things like the concert and dinners with friends to add a little something good.  He provides and He takes care, Lord you are good.

What I have been reading lately

I read a chunk of books, some good some bad, and wanted to share them with you.  Here's what I have been reading lately:

A Desirable Residence by Madeleine Wickham: I picked up this book as it was by the same author who wrote the Shopaholic series (Sophie Kinsela) under a different name.  I am a fan of her other books and was excited for this one.  I was so disappointed, it didn't have a good plot, the character development was nill and I didn't like any of them.  It followed a family who have to sell their house but they are having issues.  Other characters get mixed in and different drama mixes.  The story line just didn't make a lot of sense and it just ended very abruptly with no wrap up.  Thumbs down from me.

Genuine Lies by Nora Roberts: I have done a few reviews on Nora Roberts books and most of them I have enjoyed.  This one was pretty good, it followed Julia, an author, as she starts a new journey writing a biography on the Hollywood star Eve.  Eve lived a crazy life with lots of drama, including many people who are mad about her writing the book for fear of the secrets that would be discovered.  Julia's life is threatened and she has to decide whether it is worth it to continue with the book or not.  It was pretty interesting to get a little insight (fake or not) into the Hollywood life.  There was plenty of drama and a little romance sprinkled in for good measure.

Austensibly Ordinary by Alyssa Goodnight: I am a fan of Jane Austen for sure so I was interested in this one.  For the most part I enjoyed it, it was a little mixed up, things didn't make sense and it had a lot of random things going on but it was ok.  The main character Cate found a mystery journal that leaves messages of advice for her.  She soon discovers that the messages are from none other than Jane Austen.  She sets off on a journey following the messages to find her happy ending.

Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout: I had high hopes for this one, after all it was a Pulitzer Prize winner.  The main idea is multiple stories of community members and their connecting string is Olive Kitteridge.  I love a good connecting story and how important people are to each other but this one was not my favorite at all.  Overall it was a little depressing and just sad.  The ending really wasn't any better.  Maybe I am missing something really great here but I was unimpressed.

Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis:  My favorite book from this stack and one that I keep thinking about.  I had heard about Katie Davis and her story mentioned but it was so interesting to dive into her story headfirst and see her life.  For those of you unfamiliar, Katie Davis is a girl from Tennessee who moved to Uganda, started a program for underprivileged children and also herself adopted 14 little girls.  She is truly a woman serving her Lord.  Her story is inspiring and her love for people jumps off the page.  It was hard at times to read about the conditions that people live in and the horrors that they face everyday.  It made me think about how blessed I am and how I should bless others.  She found her purpose in serving the Lord, her servant's heart is beautiful.  She inspired me to seek my purpose to pray for guidance and to show love to others.  If you haven't read this one, definitely check it out.

What have you been reading lately?

Dollar Tree Haul: Fall Decor, Nail Polish and Food!

I ended up stopping by the Dollar Tree to pick up some flossers (so glamorous) and as is usually the case found a few things I couldn't leave there.  When things are only $1 and would normally be more I can't say no.

I love Dollar Tree's seasonal decor, this witch leg door hanger was to cute to pass up.

How adorable are those tiny pumpkins???  I have them around my house and I want more, they are too cute!!

This soap is such a good find, smells great and works just as well as Bath & Bodyworks.

This large size of instant potatoes is usually closer to $2 in the grocery store, I picked one up for an in a pinch side dish.

Yes to cheap snacks that taste just as good as name brand!  These "teddy grahams" are my favorite!

I picked up three different colors of these Kiss Gel Strong polishes.  I hadn't seen this brand there before and am excited to give it a try.

Have you been to the Dollar Tree lately?  What goodies have you found?

Instagram Roundup

This week is going to be on the short side for the Instagram Roundup, my husband and I ended up both coming down with colds.  No fun at all, with recovering and catching up at work my instagram posts were few and far between.  Here's what happened this week:

National Coffee Day was this week, but that's pretty much everyday for me ;)  This travel mug is one of my favorites, my husband got it for me one of our first married Christmases.

Every season Walmart steps up their fashion game and I am here for it.  These cozy sherpa hoodies are $10!!  Check out my post to see all my other Walmart finds.

We made a quick trip to New Orleans two weekends ago and stayed at the Grand Victorian Bed and Breakfast.  Check out my post here to see all about our trip.

When I see a good mirror I like to take advantage.  This was in our room at the Grand Victorian Bed and Breakfast in New Orleans.

That's a wrap for this roundup, be sure to follow me on instagram if you aren't already.

Hope you all have a great week!
