Thrift Haul!

Yes to another thrifting haul!  New year, same me.

I had been eyeing this jacket at the thrift store for weeks and finally got it on a 50% off sale.  I think I ended up paying around $5 or $6.  It is so cozy and really heavy duty.  It is my new favorite cold weather jacket.

I have really been loving the blazer trend that is going on.  This pretty blush one was too good to pass up, and it was only $2.  Picture it with a pretty tank underneath or edge it up with a graphic tee.

I've never met a floral I didn't like.  This satiny floral kimono is the perfect layering piece.  It was around $2 and I couldn't pass it up.

How pretty is the lace detailing on this top and those sleeves...y'all this top was 99 cents.  I couldn't put it in my cart fast enough.  It gives me major Free People vibes.

Plaid is always a classic pick and this olive color is my favorite.  This top was $2 and I can't wait to layer it under a vest or sweater.

Ooops I bought another blazer...this one was around $2 as well and it had the prettiest blush plaid pattern.

Cozy leopard for less than $1...sign me up!  This leopard sweatshirt is perfect for throwing on yet still looking cute.  Those rhinestones on the shoulder yeah I definitely took those off.

This drapey sweatshirt blazer cardigan is the perfect way to stay comfy but still look put together.  Also if you can't tell I really like olive.  I think this one was around $2.

Also if you can't tell I quite like leopard, it's totally a neutral right?  These were $4.99 (I can't remember if they were half off or not).  They are real suede and leather and feel amazing!

Have you been thrifting lately?  Let me know what you have found below.

Jesse McCartney Resolution Tour 2019

If you follow me on instagram you already got a peak at my concert experience.  Even though I couldn't tell you three Jesse McCartney songs (I know, I know), I somehow got talked into going to his concert last week.  It was only an hour away, small venue and good ticket price so I said why not.

He definitely put on a good show.  He has a good personality and I enjoyed the music.  It was a concert that was a little different than ones I had been to before, most definitely a "teenage heartthrob" concert.  I had never been around so many screaming girls before, at one point I thought they busted my ears it was so shrill.  Through all the screaming the music was good, he was great and it was a good time.

Also look how close we were!  Jesse McCartney has a new fan, I just may have added a few songs to my daily playlist.  (Better with you is a new favorite)

Instagram Roundup

Another week, another instagram roundup.  This past week was pretty crazy: concerts, The Bachelor, a Sunday School get together and more kept me pretty busy.

SEEK is my word of the year for 2019.  This year I am seeking to follow God this year, put Him first and seek His will for my life.  Check out my blog post here to see more.

The mountains are calling and I must go.  I love getting back to the mountains, there really is nothing like them.  This view was taken on the patio at the Biltmore house on our trip over Christmas.

This past Monday I got talked into a Jesse McCartney concert.  Of course I know who Jesse McCartney is but I definitely couldn't name more than 3 songs...
I was really glad I went, he was really cute and I have added a few songs to my daily playlist.

Concerts (and work) are better with friends ;)

I hope you all have a great week!  If you aren't following me on instagram, check me out here!

My Word for the Year 2019

Last year was my first year really intentionally choosing a word for the year.  To me choosing a word for the year means you keep that word in mind and actively strive to meet it.  It becomes a sort of mantra for your year, a goal.  My word for 2018 was JOY.  I tried to find JOY in all things.

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 15:11 ESV

This year my word of the year is:

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33 NIV

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13 NIV

The bible says if we SEEK the Will of God first, then all things will be given to us.  We must place God first in our life.  When this happens we see Him working through circumstances and events for our good.  His plan is far greater than our plan.  This year I want to intentionally live my life seeking God's will.  I want to seek His plan and His purpose for my life and to listen to His words.  One way I am trying to start this is by reading the whole bible this year.  I plan to do a post on this soon!

Let me know your word of the year!

Thrift Haul

Time for a super quick, short and sweet thrift haul.  Even though it is short, I did find some gems.

This might be my favorite find, I picked up this comfort colors Alabama sweatshirt.  It is super oversized but really comfortable.  I have pretty much been living in it at home.  Best thing, it was less than $3.

I have a tendency to like vintagey weird items, I like to refer to my style as Grandma Chic.  This pretty embroidered sweater was only $1 and just had to come home with me.

Chunky knit cardigans always have my heart.  This was originally from Target and was $2.  It is the perfect layering piece and oh so cozy.

I loved the tribal western vibe this sweater had going on.  Another slightly weird find but for $1 I couldn't pass it up.  I think styled with tall boots I can make it work.

Have you been thrifting lately?  What have you found?

Instagram Roundup

Here we are halfway through January and I'm already slacking on blog posts.  I have posts I am excited about this year but I am feeling a little bit of a rut.  Working through it but bear with me!

Here's my instagram roundup from a few weeks:

This gorgeous lighted tree at Biltmore was my favorite!!  Check out more on our trip here
Shop the post:

Christmas at Biltmore was BEAUTIFUL!!  So many trees and lights everywhere.  This gingerbread was the icing on the cake...yes I did just do that ;)

I'm still not done posting pictures from our Biltmore trip, the lights were so magical!

New year but the same God.  So comforting to know that He is always the same.  He has made us new, the old is passed away and the new is here.  Thankful for His love and forgiveness.

And yet another picture from Biltmore.  Y'all we just had such a great time!  I'm so blessed with this guy here, he's my best friend and my favorite person to be around.  Marriage isn't always easy, but it is always worth it.  When you find the right one you just know, trust me.

I followed the crowd and did my #bestnine

Walmart shoes for the win.  These were a super clearance find and I'm into them.
Shop the post:

Leopard is always a win in my book.  Also this necklace is one of my favorites from Madison and Mallory.
Shop the post:

These druzy hoops are my new favorite!  They look just like Kendra Scott but they are $15 from Madison and Mallory!!  Pick up a pair here.

My goal is more regular posts so instagram posts aren't a mile long.  If you aren't following me on instagram, check me out here.  It's a great way to see what's going on in my life.

2018 Favorites

It's a New Year and I thought I would share my favorites from 2018.

Bobsweep: This might be my favorite thing in this list!!  He cleans my house for me!  I was definitely skeptical about the robo-vacuum but I am completely sold.  If you haven't checked them out yet see more here

Coconut Creamer:  I found my favorite coffee creamer this year.  I am a big fan of coconut and this one is amazing!!  It is creamy with just a slight coconut flavor.

Booties: If you follow me on instagram you have seen these boots all year.  They are super comfy and go with everything!  For less than $40 you really can't go wrong!

Concealer: The hype around this concealer is real, it covers up a multitude of dark circles and imperfections and blends out really well.  It is more expensive than a drugstore concealer but it is really worth it.

Ebates: I was slow to get on the Ebates train and I don't know why I waited so long!  Making money while you shop, what could be better??  Check out more here.

Bagels: These are my favorite store bought bagels!!  They are a seasonal item so you better believe that I stock up on these suckers.  They are the harvest grain bagels and are filled with cranberries and nuts and they are delicious!!  If you have an Aldi check them out!

Wireless Earphones: I have been using these all year and don't know what I did without them!  I love the ease of the wireless earphones and these are really comfortable.  They are a game changer at the gym.  If you have been on the fence about wireless earphones these are $15 and are AMAZING!

The Great Alone: My favorite book of the year was this one by Kristin Hannah.  She is one of my favorite authors and this did not disappoint.  It is set in Alaska and made me want to visit.  I loved the storyline, check out more here.

Coconut K-Cups: More coconut, these k-cups are great!  They have a subtle coconut flavor and are perfect for pairing with my coconut creamer.

Key Ring: These keyrings are all over instagram and for good reason.  They are super handy, you can slip the ring over your wrist and keep your keys out of the way while still available.  I picked up this pretty rose gold glitter silicone one and I am obsessed!

The Greatest Showman: You knew this one was going to make the list.  I absolutely loved this movie!!  I have listened to the soundtrack so many times, I own the movie and have watched it over and over.  If you haven't seen it GO WATCH IT!!

What are your favorites from the year??

Aztec Pullover: I've been into comfy pullovers lately and I loved the subtle western vibe of this one.

Planner: I always love getting a planner for Christmas, perfect for getting organized for the new year.  I wanted a slightly larger one this year and this one if perfect!

Mauve Slip-On Sneakers: I am a big fan of slip on sneakers, I have had my eye on a mauve pair for so long and I finally got my hands on some!  These have memory foam and are a sueded material.

Knot Ring: My husband got this one for me and I LOVE it!!  It is so dainty and simple and I love the silver and gold combo.  The knot is connected together and I love the symbol of the knot.

Gift Cards: Can you really go wrong with gift cards??

Duck Boots: I got a pair of duck boots and these are super cozy.  They are lined and perfect for winter.

Cross Hoops: These hoops are so dainty and perfect for everyday.  I now have a silver pair and a gold.

Plaid Gloves: I lost my favorite pair of gloves earlier this year so these were a great replacement.  I love the plaid, they are super cozy and have touch compatibility.

Nicholas Sparks Every Breath: I love getting a new book for Christmas, you can start the year off with a good read.  I am a fan of Nicholas Sparks and am really excited to start this one!

Tennis Shoes: My husband picked up these cute tennis shoes for me and I LOVE them!  They are super comfy and very slim and look really chic.  I am loving the olive color, a little bit different than your basic neutrals.  I can't wait to style them!

2018 Year in Review

2018 was pretty good to me, new adventures, fun times with family and friends, we were blessed this year.

I had the chance to attend Minnie's Rock the Dots ceremony in Orlando.  Minnie finally received her Hollywood Star.  I had the once in a lifetime chance to attend.  While in Orlando I also got to go to Disney World of course.  I experienced the Avatar ride for the first time and it was awesome!  See more about the trip here.

I also got to see the new fireworks display and loved it!!

Since we were in California to see Minnie's star we ended up heading to Disney Land.  I had been once before but didn't think I would have the chance to go again!

One of the coolest things I have gotten to do with my job for sure!  Read more about it here.

Living so far away we try to make it back to visit our families whenever we have a chance.  My husband's spring break was as good a chance as any.  We spent time with family and also ended up taking a trip back to the college that Kyle and I graduated from (it's also where we met).

We had such a great time reminiscing and seeing all the changes.  See more about our trip here.

Kyle's cousin got married this past spring and I was honored to stand beside her as a bridesmaid.  I had a such a great time getting to know the other girls and celebrating the beautiful wedding.

See more about this trip here.  While we were in NC we mad a trip to Lake Lure.  It has been years since I have been back to the lake and it was a trip much needed!

My family came up for the day and I loved getting to spend time with everyone!

So relaxing and a nice break from the real world.

This year saw two weddings, my sister had a small ceremony over the summer and we came to celebrate with her.  See more about that trip here.

We have been trying to take little trips to places close by and New Orleans was on the list.  We stayed at a little bed & breakfast in the French Quarter and spent the weekend wandering around.  Check out more on this trip here.

I love a county fair!  Since we couldn't make it to my home county fair we stopped by our local county fair.  It was teeny tiny but we had a fun time.  I really enjoyed getting to hang out with the camel.  See more here.

If you have been following for a while you know I am semi lucky when it comes to winning concert tickets.  I won tickets to see Dustin Lynch, Lauren Alaina and Cole Swindell on their tour!  It was such a fun concert, they seemed really down to earth and like they were just having a good time hanging out together.  See more about this concert here.

Work has been good this year, lots of changes and staying busy: photo shoots, trips to market and fun times with coworkers.  I'm looking forward to seeing what this next year brings!

We traveled to see family in the fall and I loved spending fall in the mountains!  See more on this trip here.

I had to make it up to see Dolly!

We also spent the day at the cutest apple orchard and had such a great time with family and eating ALL the apple cider donuts!

This year saw the passing of our fur baby Riley.  It was completely unexpected and one of the hardest things we had to deal with this year.  We are thankful for the time we had with him and will miss his sweet self in our house.  It's never easy to say goodbye to a pet.

December saw us visiting family for the holidays and we also made a trip to the Biltmore house for Christmas!  It was as magical as depicted.  See more on this trip here.

Christmas was spent with family and friends.  It is always good to take some time, live a little slower and enjoy time with friends and family.

From the highs to the lows, 2018 was an adventure.  The disappointments and hard times are making us stronger.  I'm thankful for the lessons we learned, the adventures we had and the joy of everyday mundane life.  We are truly blessed and I am excited to see what 2019 has in store.

Happy New Year!!
