Everyday Makeup Products

NYX Control Freak Clear Eyebrow Gel: I have pretty sparse brows but this is really helpful for making them look a little more full, brushing them up and setting them in place.

Sonia Kashuk Duo Blush in Glisten: I picked this up from Target on clearance and I love it!  It is the perfect color for summer.  It is so easy to use and provides both blush and bronzer in one sweep.

Tartelette Matte Palette: This is my favorite eyeshadow palette at the moment.  The colors are so pretty and perfect for everyday wear.  They are matte so they are super flattering.  They apply smoothly and blend beautifully.  If you are looking for an eyeshadow palette this is one to check out!
NYX Wonder Stick in Universal: I'm still a contour newbie but this little product is making it a little easier.  I don't use the highlighter as much but the contour stick is awesome!  I just swipe it in the hollows of my cheekbones and blend it in with a brush.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel: I have combination dry and oily skin.  I always need a lotion to moisturize my face but I need to make sure it doesn't make me oily.  This product is lightweight and also provides sunscreen which I love.

Wet N' Wild Eyebrow Pencil in Blonde: I'm still working on my brow game, not on fleek yet.  This product is super cheap and I have really been liking how it applies.

Rimmel Long Lasting Foundation: I purchased this foundation on a whim to wear at Disney and fell in love!  It is long lasting, has good coverage and feels good on my skin.

Almay Smart Shade Lipstick in Pink: These smartshade lippies are some of my favorites.  I still struggle with finding the right shade for my skintone and Almay takes the work out of it.  This one is supposed to be a flattering match for fair skin.  I really like it, not too pink but enough to brighten my face.

Rimmel Perfect Match Concealer: I love this concealer!  It hides everything I need to hide (bye dark circles), it isn't too thick and it stays all day.  Being that it is Rimmel it is super affordable too!

e.l.f. Gel Cream Eyeliner in Brown: This eyeliner is super easy to use, just swipe a brush in it and draw it along your lashline.  It gives a pretty definition and doesn't look to made up.  It is a really pretty natural eyeliner look.

CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion: Yay for drugstore mascara!  I love a good mascara and CoverGirl is my favorite!  This one plumps my lashes and doesn't get clumpy.

Make money with your Fitbit???

My husband got a FitBit for me for Christmas and I love it!  I've been trying to get healthier this year and was surprised when I found out I could earn money for doing things I was already doing.  Interested?  Here are 3 ways you can earn money with your FitBit:

1. Earn Walgreens Balance Rewards Points for every mile you walk: For those of you new to drugstore shopping, Balance Rewards are customer loyalty points that you can use like money at Walgreens.  You can earn 250 points just for signing up your FitBit (or other health app).  Then you will earn 20 points for every mile you walk.  So 5,000 points can get you $5, and keep going from there.

2. Earn 1 point for every 100 steps you take on Higi.com: Higi was new to me but they are health monitoring stations found in grocery stores and pharmacies (Rite Aid, Whole Foods, etc).  You can earn 1 point for every 100 steps you take then redeem them for discounts and freebies.  Download the Higi app now!

3. Get $2 on Shop Your Way for every 15 miles you walk: Shop Your Way is partnered with KMart, Sears and Land's End.  You get$2 for every 15 miles you walk to use at any of the three stores.

Latest deal finds

Good deals are my weakness...I just can't walk away.

I was at the Dollar Treerecently picking up cards and bacon...I searched through the books and found these two interesting finds.  Don't ignore the book section at Dollar Tree guys!  Yes, sometimes it is seriously lacking but once in a while you will find a selection of nice actually good books.

I also checked out the makeup section and found a lot of higher quality Wet n' Wild products (just in weird packages).  This Fergie eyeshadow palette in Milano was a great find.  They had a lot of the more colorful palettes but j managed to scoop up the very last nude one.  If I remember correctly it was $5 or more when it was sold at the drugstore.

I have been using it and love it!  Wet n' Wild shadows are always great and these are no different.  They are buttery soft and so pigmented!

I also found two things while browsing The clearance section at Wal-Mart.

Being a Disney lover myself and the fact that I have been to Disney twice this year already I figured my phone needed to get dressed in the Disney Magic. This Minnie case is too cute and perfect for capturing that Disney moment on my phone in the park.

I also found the Sally Hansen airbrushed legs spray in light.  I have heard so much about this product and had never tried it. Your girl has super white legs and this puppy is supposed to transform them into legs that you don't have to hide anymore.

Carnival Magic Cruise

My husband and I were lucky enough to go on a cruise last month with my sweet in-laws and their friends.  We had a great time relaxing, getting away from the world and disconnecting from social media.
I loved being able to read, nap, eat and just hang out for a week.  It was heaven!

We cruised on Carnival Magic and made stops in Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Belize.  It was so beautiful!

Enjoy some pictures from the trip:

Dollar Tree Finds

Dollar Tree is one of my favorite places to stop and shop.  They have their regular stuff but there are always those surprise find items that you have to watch out for.

The Dollar Tree rotates stock regularly and is always getting new items from store overstock, etc.

I make it a habit to stop in regularly and see what's new.  Here's what I found this go round:

I just recently learned how to make gravy, I feel like a real southern woman now. I used this sausage from the frozen section and it was delicious.  Small amount but still enough for my husband and I with plenty left over.  This will now be a regular purchase.

Dollar Tree always has interesting plastic ware and storage containers.  This one looked like higher quality with the measurements printed on the side.  I thought it would be perfect for flour, cereal or liquids.  I can never have enough plastic containers.

This was a new product I had never seen before but was really excited for it.  I love muffins for breakfast and my husband is a big Greek yogurt fan.  This was regular size box and a good brand so I stocked up.

*I made these this morning and they were delicious!*

Last thing I found was this cookie dough oatmeal.  There were three different flavor a with Dreamworks characters but this one sounded the best (cookie dough!).  Full size box with 8(?!) pouches of oatmeal!  That is an awesome deal and one I may have to go back for, I only bought one box.  I also found this at Walmart for $2.58 so...pick it up here!!

Make sure you check your quantity and expiration dates!  Sometimes Dollar Tree has brand name products because they are smaller quantity or the expiration is closer.

Check out my post on the things I always buy at the Dollar Tree here.

5 Things I always buy at the Dollar Tree

Ahh Dollar Tree.  It was once my favorite place to go as a child because it provided cheap treats and toys.  I didn't' have access to a good store for years and didn't feel like it was worth it to walk around...boy was I missing out!

What makes Dollar Tree so great?  You don't have to wait for a sale ad to score a great deal, everything is the same price all the time.  You can also use coupons to save even more.  Some stores do have a limit so know their policy.  Also check the quantity amount to make sure your item qualifies.
Remember inventory varies by store and changes all the time so check them out frequently and if you have multiple stores check them out too!

Dollar Tree does have a lot of products that are not worth $1...but you do find some hidden gems that make it worthwhile.  If you search around and know what to look for you can find brand name, full size products for much less than retail.

Here are some things I always look for at Dollar Tree:

1. Fresh bread: Did you know you can get fresh bread for $1?  It is exactly the same as the bread at the grocery store, just a closer expiration.  I keep my bread in the refrigerator or freeze it if I buy multiples and it lasts past the expiration.

2. Turkey Bacon: My husband and I love to have breakfast for dinner.  We have also been trying to eat a little healthier so we have turned to eating turkey bacon for over a year.  Now it isn't as good as regular bacon but the flavor is still tasty and we really like it.  This bacon is in a smaller quantity than in the grocery store but the amount is perfect for just the two of us.  I like to buy a lot and freeze them so we always have it on hand.

3. Makeup: Another thing to keep an eye out for is brand name makeup at Dollar Tree, yep that's right Brand Name!  I have seen e.l.f., Maybelline, Physician's Formula, essie and others.  I always swing by the makeup aisle while in the store just to see if they have any new brand name products.  Use a coupon if you have it!

4. Canned soups: Soups can cost as much as $2 apiece or more at grocery stores but you can sometimes pick them up here for half price or less.  Brand name no less like Progresso and Campbell's.

5. Cards and gift bags: Cards are so expensive, seriously some are up to $5 or more!! At Dollar Tree you can get regular ones two for 50 cents or a little bit nicer ones for $1 apiece.  You can also pick up a package of blank cards for $1, these are adorable and had a $3 price marked on them for retail.

What I read in May

Oh y'all I managed to get through five books!  I was off work for a week and took advantage of being able to read throughout the day.

Sisterhood Everlasting by Ann Brashares: I loved the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series and this one was the grownup ending to the series.  I really enjoyed this one as a wrap up to the series.  I loved getting to dive back into the lives of the Tibby, Lena, Carmen and Bridget and see how they handled growing up and being adults.  This book definitely handled more serious topics so maybe not for the younger fans of the pants series.  Like I said it's the grown up traveling pants.  If you grew up with the books check it out.  p.s. I also heard talk of a third movie coming out {yes please!!}

Lowcountry Summer by Dorothea Benton Frank: I picked this one up at a thrift store for .25 cents because of the pretty cover.  It looked like a cute summer read.  Apparently it's a series but I had never read any of the others and I picked up just fine.  This book is set in South Carolina and stays true to the southern roots.  If you are looking for a low key summer read and you like southern style check this one out.

Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher: Another thrift store find.  I have mentioned before that I am a big nerd (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, I love them all).  This book is a short autobiography by Carrie Fisher who is none other than Princess Leia.  It was interesting to hear her family history and how fame shaped her life (not really for the better).  I would have liked to get a little more insight into her time on the Star Wars films but I guess I'll have to find another book for that.  Super quick read and short chapters which I love.

The Next Best Thing by Jennifer Weiner: This is my second read by Jennifer Weiner and I was not disappointed.  This book follows a young girl who has dreams of writing her own TV series.  Drama, romance and finding oneself happen as with most chick lit.  This one was interesting to see the behind the scenes of what goes into actually making a TV series.

The Wilder Life by Wendy McClure: I picked this one up at the Dollar Tree.  I always loved the Little House books when I was younger and was fascinated by the pioneer way of life.  Well Wendy McClure surpasses all of my fascination and goes right into obsession.  This lady's a obsessed with Laura Ingalls.  Her obsession was for my benefit as I got to see through her eyes the travels to Laura monuments, museums and old homesites.  It was really interesting to read the facts she dug up and things she discovered about the Ingalls family.  It made me want to dig out my books and re-read them.

Target table for 80% off??

You already know I love Dirt Cheap, well I stopped in there last week and they had a small section of furniture (Target furniture) for 80% off!  A lot of it was beat up, broken or had a piece missing.  This little table was in good working condition, no missing pieces and so cute!  I picked that little guy up and took him home with me.

Still had the original Target tags and everything.  Target price was $99, Dirt Cheap price was $89.99 but at 80% off I got this little guy for $18.99!!!
