Five Things Friday

Five Things Friday
1. Grey's Anatomy: Oh Grey's how you are killing me this season.  I started watching Grey's in college because a friend got me hooked (freshman year I got caught up on about 4 seasons no kidding).  This season is an emotional roller coaster, Jackson and April my heart breaks for them.

2. The One (The Selection) by: Kierra Cass: This is the last book in The Selection series and it is a great finish to the series.  I got so caught up in the main character America's life and her love triangle.  Check this series out if you like distopian romance...seriously it's like a distopian Hunger Games/Bachelor.

3. Sandalwood Citrus candle: I am a candle junkie...I have a supply that fills 2 boxes in our storage.  I love sweet scented ones but the ones that smell manly are my favorite.  I told my husband this one smells like a good smelling manly man holding a basket of lemons...haha maybe not but it smells so good!  It's not to strong but still fills the room with a beautiful manly scent.

4. Wood Folding Mancala in Sleeve: All right guys so I used to play this in middle school all the time.  During morning break me and my friend would battle each other over Mancala.  I hadn't played in years and had forgotten all about it until my mother in law gave me the game for Christmas.  Now my husband and I have Mancala battles after dinner.  Since I hadn't played in so long I forgot how to play but I'm remembering and my husband better watch out :)

5. Too Faced - Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection: Oh my goodness this palette is absolutely beautiful!  I have had this on my wishlist since I got my makeup done at Sephora and saw it on display.  My sweet husband took me to Sephora on Valentine's Day and told me to pick out what I wanted (seriously isn't he the best??).  I picked this out and I am absolutely in love.  The colors are so smooth and pigmented.  They are absolutely beautiful and perfect for everyday wear but also can be built up for a more dramatic eye look.  If you are looking for a natural eye color palette I recommend this one!

What have you all been loving this week?

Birthday Gift from Sephora 2015

Alright so ya'll know I am a deal finder...but I also have a love for pricier things.  I love designer bags and high quality makeup I just can't really afford them.  Sephora is one of those stores where I love to look and wish for things but hardly ever buy...they are just too pricey.

I am a Beauty Insider which really just means that I have signed up for their emails and it records my purchases and I get points for each purchase which can then be redeemed for purchases in their reward shop.

One of the biggest perks is their Birthday Gift.  Every year they have a new Birthday Gift for their Beauty Insiders.  These are sample sizes but they are high quality and large sample sizes.

This year the gift was a 2 piece quality sample size of the NARS Lip Pencils.  One is a nice red (which I'm a little shy about) and then the other is a more neutral pink color.

These are such amazing quality that you get for FREE!!  You can get these in store by just telling them that you want to pick up your fee Birthday Gift (it doesn't even have to be your Birthday month) or you can add it to your cart online.

Five Things Friday

Five Things Friday

1. Cedar Cove: I started watching this show on a whim on Netflix when my husband was away for the weekend on interviews and fell in love.  The story line is great, small town, romance and sweet characters.  It is Hallmark so you know its pretty good and based on Debbie Macomber's book series.  I finished the first season and am patiently awaiting the 2nd season to air on Netflix.

2. Essie in Ballet Slippers: I am obsessed with this nail polish!  Seriously how have I never tried this before??  It is such a beautiful pale pink color that looks classy and sophisticated.  I mean Emily Maynard wore it on The Bachelor so how can it be bad?

3. Anthropologie Homegrown Monogram Mug: I got this as a gift from a friend and it is my favorite mug.  Mine of course has an "e" on it and it is the perfect size.  It holds a large amount of coffee or chai tea so you can get energy in the morning and it fits perfectly in my hand...plus how adorable is that print?

4. BCBG Build Your Own Affirmation Strap Bracelt: I have been eyeing these bracelets for a couple of years and just never bought one.  I picked mine up at Belk on sale and got my initials and my husbands.  I really wanted to do a heart but they were all sold out, I'll keep looking.  It is a little hard to put on at first.  My husband had to help push through the leather but it gets easier.  I love the look and have been piling it on with everything.

5. e.l.f.Studio high definition powder translucent
This is such an amazing product.  I use this on special occasions or when I know I am going to have my picture taken.  This makes your makeup last and your features look defined and beautiful on camera.

Five Things Friday

Five Things Friday

1. The Elite (The Selection): This is the second book in The Selection series.  I finished this one this week and sped through it.  It was really interesting and the story line was good.  I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but sometimes I got a little irritated and felt like the love triangle is carried out a little to much but still a good read and I've already started in on the third book.

2. Shipping Wars: This is such an addiction for me...and I really can't explain it.  I just love Shipping Wars.  I can watch this show all day long, seriously one summer I was at my husband's house (then boyfriend) while he was at work and I watched Shipping Wars all day.  Well I recently discovered it on Netflix and have been watching while I do things around the house (dishes, laundry, etc).  Don't ask me why I like it I just get so into the people and their shipments and their problems.

3. essie Nail Color in Watermelon: Perfect pink color for February and it makes my nails feel all springy :)

4. e.l.f. Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream, St. Lucia: This is one of my all time favorite blushes.  It is the perfect coral pink that brightens up my face and the bronzer is great to add a little warmth or use as a contour.  This is what I used for my wedding and I have been loving it ever since...plus at $3 you really can't beat that.  p.s. it's also a dupe for NARS blush in orgasm.

5. Bertolli Tiramisu Cups: So my husband has been doing a lot of interviews for his doctorate degree and that meant I was on my own for the weekend.  So I decided to splurge and get a good dessert.  I found these at Ingles on sale and figured they were worth a shot.  Oh my goodness are they delicious, rich and creamy and with just the right amount of coffee flavor from the ladyfingers and the chocolate ahhh delicious!  Too bad there are only two cups in a package...actually maybe that's a good thing....

What I read in January

This year I'm really going to try and read more books.  I love to read but the past couple of months I haven't had much time and I have a bookcase full of books that need to be read.
So I'm going to start keeping track of all the books I read in a month and then do a mini review of my thoughts on them for you all:

For January I only read three books:

1. The Mistletoe Promise by Richard Paul Evans : I absolutely love Richard Paul Evans.  He is neck and neck with Nicholas Sparks and tells such sweet romantic stories but also stories about life and the people we meet and how things change our lives.  This book was a Christmas centered book abut two lonely people who make a contract to spend the four weeks leading up to Christmas going to each others social events as their dates.  There is a romance but they also have secrets hidden within themselves that have changed them.  It's a great read, check it out and the rest of Richard Paul Evans books!

2. The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella : Sophie Kinsella is hilarious.  She wrote The Confessions of a Shopahaulic series and other books about women that are crazy but lovable.  When I read her books I end up laughing outloud because things are so ridiculous yet still believable and relatable.  This book was about a lawyer who is the best of the best, she makes a mistake and is fired.  She is devastated and winds up in a job as a housekeeper (which she knows nothing about).  Her housekeeping antics are hilarious and she is such an endearing character you are cheering for her to succeed.

3. The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette: A Novel by Carolly Erikson : this was my least favorite of the three but still a decent read.  It is supposed to be the diary of Marie Anotoinette that she left behind.  It is fiction so not all historically correct but it is based on historical events.  I enjoyed getting in her head and imagining what she was thinking during her life.  She had many difficulties and changes and we l know the horrific end.   The book is a little cheesy at times but still a good read for anyone interested in Marie Antoinette.

What have you all been reading lately?  I'm always looking for a good book, leave suggestions below!

Five Things Friday

Five Things Friday

1. Bonne Bell Lip Blush in Calming Vanilla Chai: I picked this up from the Dollar Tree and I absolutely love it!  It smells great and the color payoff is beautiful.  It is a pretty nude pink that goes great with an everyday look.  I just throw mine in my bag and I'm good to go.

2. The Selection: I got these books for Christmas and finally got on to reading them.  They are really good, like a cross between the Hunger Games and The Bachelor.  I'm a sucker for those romantic distopian society stories am the cover art is gorgeous!

3. Wet n Wild Color Icon Trio C380B Walking On Eggshells: I love wet n' wild, they are one of the best and cheapest drugstore makeup brands.  Their eyeshadows are so pigmented and beautiful.  This one in Walking On Eggshells is so pretty and perfect to throw on.

4. Snack Factory Original Pretzel Crisp: These are my favorite snack.  I love these by themselves and also dipped in hummus, peanut butter, or sometimes in icing...(there goes the healthy part).  They are such a perfect replacement for chips but still have that satisfying salty crunch.

5. Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal: I have blogged about this before but this is such a great app.  It lets you track your weight and then calculate how many calories you need to eat to get to your goal weight.  You can also add in everything you ate during the day and your exercise.  It will then calculate how many calories you ate.  My favorite part is the scanner that allows you to scan your food barcode and get the exact amount of calories you ate.

Shopping haul...deal finds (thrift store and Burkes)

I went shopping (surprise) and found some deals!!!  Oh how deals make me happy!  Here are my deals I found:

First up is the thrift store:

I picked up yet another grandma sweater.  This one had to come home with me though because it had that beautiful metallic floral detail and little lacing kit work on the bottom and sleeves.  I just like oversized sweaters in the winter...

I also picked up this Hollister cardigan with the sweetest ruffle detail on the pockets.  I actually needed a new neutral cardigan because I accidentally stained my favorite Anne Taylor one in the wash when we first got married and have been missing it.

I also picked up this book because I had it on my Goodreads to read list.  By the way of you haven't checked out Goodreads and you like to read check it out!  It lets you make a list of books you have read and want to read and gives you recommendations based on that.

Burkes outlet is next, in case you don't have a Burkes it is similar to a TJ Maxx but with slightly less nice items for the most part.  Although I did find a Michael Kors peacoat for around $45 that I did like.

I actually didn't buy this since it was still $10 on clearance and I just couldn't justify it.  But how adorable is this gold parfum bank?

My husband and I didn't have proper stockings, we made due with dollar tree ones this past Christmas. So I have been looking for a deal on some in after Christmas sales.  These were perfectly glitzy but not overly girly.  They were only $3.60 and I bought one for my husband and one for me.

I got these adorable placemats and they were probably my favorite find of the day.  They remind me of Kate Spade with those glitter polka dots. These were considered "Christmas" so they were on a super sale of 90 cents!!  I bought the last 4 they had.

Last thing I picked up was this book about the ladies of Duck Commander.  I love Duck Dynasty the family is awesome.  I thought this would be an interesting book to see the wives stories and how they deal with life.
